alma ellen (zimmerman) smitherman
Mrs. Alma
Zimmerman Smitherman, 80, of Winston-Salem died Monday,
April 24, 2000, at Forsyth Medical Center. She was born Oct. 3, 1919,
in
Forsyth County to Solomon Eugene and Crissie Ellen Pickett Zimmerman.
Mrs. Smitherman
attended Forsyth County schools and retired from Hanes Knitwear in
June, 1976.
She was a member of Fraternity Church of the Brethren since her youth.
Her
husband of 22 years, Charles Ray Smitherman, preceded her in death in
1981. Surviving are a brother, Ralph Eugene Zimmerman of Winston-Salem;
a niece
and a nephew; and several great-nieces and nephews. Funeral services
will be 3
p.m. Friday, April 28, at Fraternity Church of the Brethren. Burial
will be in
the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m.
today at
Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. Memorials may be made to Fraternity
