A. Smitherman, 62, of Back Creek Valley, Ganotown, WV, died
Wednesday, July 28, 1999, in the Winchester Medical Center.
Born February 12, 1937, in Dinwiddie, Virginia, he was the son of the late Dalton Monroe Smitherman and Stella Mae Lakey Smitherman.
He was a heavy equipment operator and a member of International Union of Operating Engineers, Local 12.
He was a member of Buck Hill Church and a veteran of the U.S. Army.
He is survived by his wife, Donna Shoup Smitherman of the home; four sons, Michael Alvis Smitherman, Leland, NC, Darren Ray Albright, Martinsburg, WV, Terrance M. Albright, Bunker Hill, WV, Daniel D. Smitherman, Martinsburg, WV; one daughter, Beverly Smitherman Brown, Wilmington, NC; six grandchildren; one brother, Tom Smitherman, Franklin, NC; one sister, Betty S. Jones, Mocksville, NC; and a number of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Lakey and Charles Smitherman, and one sister, Virginia Poindexter.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 31, 1999, at 10 a.m. at the Brown Funeral Home with Rev. John M. Emert officiating. Interment will be in the Rosedale Cemetery.
