Amanda Rose (rakes) smitherman
Mrs.
Amanda Rose Rakes Smitherman, age 83, resident of Citronelle, AL,
passed away on Tuesday, August 28, 2018. She is preceded in death by
her husband, Lonnie Smitherman and parents, Otha and Estelle Lilly
Rakes. Mrs. Smitherman was an elementary school teacher at ET Belsaw-Mt. Vernon Elementary School for many of her 32 years with the Mobile County Public Schools. Rose was a longtime member of Lockler Memorial Baptist Church. She was a graduate of University of Alabama. Her family will remember her great love for time spent with her family, and her passion for reading and jigsaw puzzles.
Mrs. Smitherman is survived by her three children, sister, seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held at Radney Funeral Home, Saraland, AL on Friday, August 31, 2018 from 12:30 until funeral service time of 2:00 p.m. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery in Saraland.
