SMITHERMAN EAST BEND- Annie Louise Phillips Smitherman, 79, of Shady Grove
Church Road, East Bend, our beloved mother, passed away Wednesday, February 2,
2011, at her residence. She was born in Forsyth County on May 8, 1931, to the
late Floyd and Minnie Phillips. Mrs. Smitherman was retired from Sara Lee Corp.
with 43 years of service. She was a member of Shady Grove United Methodist
Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a loving
husband, Mr. James Edward (Ed) Smitherman, who has been waiting in heaven since
2006, a brother, J. T. Phillips, brothers-in-law, Bryce Smitherman, Sr. and Roy
Smitherman and sister-in-law, Edith Johnson. Surviving are her children, son,
Edward Dean Smitherman, daughter, Tracy Ann Smitherman, sisters-in-law, Ann
Smitherman and Mollie Smitherman, and several very special nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until. Friday, February 4, 2011,
at Huff Funeral Home in East Bend. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m.
Saturday, February 5, 2011, at Shady Grove United Methodist Church. Mrs.
Smitherman will lie in state 30 minutes prior to the service. The Smitherman
Family would like to thank our neighbors, friends, church family, and co-workers
for all their love, support, and prayers. The family wishes to express their
appreciation to Dr. Temas and Dr. Gordy for Mom's gift of sight, Dr. Inman for
the gift of voice, Dr. Nick Chrysson and staff, Jennifer, Lori, Allison, Paula,
and Lisa; your kindness will never be forgotten, and to the staff of the ninth
floor at Forsyth Medical Center, Hospice and Nurse Jo. Flowers will be accepted
