Funeral
services for Arthur J. Smitherman, 67 of Clanton, were held Thursday,
Jan. 2 at New Harmony Holiness Church. Rev. Kenny Coburn officiated.
Burial followed at New Harmony Holiness Cemetery in Clanton. Born on
June 4, 1935 to James Arthur Smitherman and Lee Ora Smitherman, he died
Monday, Dec. 30, 2002 at Brookwood Medical Center in Birmingham. He is
survived by his wife, Anne Smitherman of Clanton; sons Keith Kirkland
of Clanton and Kenny Kirkland of Jemison; daughter Sweda Muir of
Clanton; brothers Cecil Smitherman of Clanton and Joel Smitherman of
Clanton; sister Carolyn Kelley of Clanton; nine grandchildren and two
great-grandchildren.
