HIGH POINT -- Augusta Williamson Nicholson, 94, of River Landing at Sandy Ridge, died May 16, 2009, at Hospice Home at High Point.She was born August 16, 1914, in Reidsville, N.C., the daughter of Harry Hinton Williamson and Mary Carr Chisman Williamson, who preceded her in death. In 1935, she married George Moses Nicholson, who died in 1973.One of nine children, all predeceased, she grew up in Pine Hall, N.C. She moved to High Point in 1939 and was a homemaker and avid gardener most of her life. After her children were grown, she earned an associate’s degree in interior design from Randolph Technical College and built a career as an interior decorator. She was active at Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church for more than 70 years, where she served in many capacities. Among her favorites were teaching kindergarten Sunday School and arranging flowers from her garden for numerous events. She was a recipient of the United Methodist Women Service Award. She enjoyed her bridge club, her garden club and volunteering for Mobile Meals.She is survived by a daughter, Elizabeth N. (Libby) Fisher, and sons, G. Richard (Dick) Nicholson and wife Maria of Jacksonville, Fla., and J. Robert (Bob) Nicholson and wife Amy of Bradenton, Fla.; grandchildren Karen Gooding, Joe Fisher, Mia Bjorn, Krister Bjorn, Lisa Hopen, Erik Nicholson, Tracey Jones, Rachel Nicholson and Michael Nicholson; and 15 great-grandchildren. Her family especially appreciates the love and support she received from Wesley Memorial, Hospice, and the Presbyterian Home Frog Pond Gang.A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday in the Chapel of Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church by the Rev. Richard Howle. The family will receive friends in the Asbury Room following the service.In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Hospice of the Piedmont, Inc., 1801 Westchester Dr., High Point, NC 27262; to Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church, 1225 Chestnut Dr., High Point, NC 27262; or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
