Ben Charles Smitherman departed
this life on May 27, 2014. He was born on May 24, 1987 in Selma, AL.
With a passion for bull riding, he also loved to hunt and fish. He
loves his family and friends and also brought laughter to every
occasion and smiles to everyone around him. Survivors include his son,
Brandon Smitherman of Tuscaloosa, AL; a daughter, McKenzee Smitherman
of Selma, AL; mother, Becky Smitherman of Grove Hill, AL; father, Wayne
Smitherman of Selma, AL; grandmother, Helen Massey of Grove Hill, AL;
two sisters: Jessica (Randy) Harvell of Moody, AL and Kristina Wade of
Grove Hill, AL; his loving girlfriend, Brittany Martin; a devoted
niece, Ciara Wade of Grove Hill, AL; five nephews: Randy Harvell,
Timothy Harvell, Hunter Harvell all of Moody, AL, Bradley Wade and
Jayden Boykins, both of Grove Hill, AL; along with numerous aunts,
uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his paternal
grandparents, J.L. and Elizabeth Smitherman of Selma, AL and maternal
grandfathers, Robert Walker of Prattville, AL and M.C. Massey of Grove
Hill, AL. A memorial service was held on Thursday, May 29, 2014 at
Lathan Funeral Home in Grove Hill. Jimmy Boswell of the Dallas County
Cowboy Church officiated.
