Bernice (irwin) boyd
Bernice Irwin Boyd, age 81, of Hot Springs, died Monday, January 24, 2005.
Bernice was born February 7, 1923 in Hot Springs, the daughter of Neal and Lillie Smitherman Irwin. She married Lester Earl Boyd on May 1, 1945. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and two granddaughters.
She was the owner and operator of Bernice’s Beauty Shop for over 50 years.
She was a member of Morning Star United Methodist Church.
She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Earlene and James C. Birdsong of Hot Springs; a brother, Raymond Irwin of Hot Springs; a grandson, Johnny and his wife Ivy Sales of Hot Springs; two very special great-granddaughters, Alex and Ashleigh Sales of Hot Springs; three nephews and their spouses, Neal and Donna Irwin, Ray and Sandy Irwin, and Olen and Margaret Irwin all of Hot Springs; and her caregivers, Ronnie and Lou Howell, Chrissy Howell, and Daniel Lipe.
Funeral services will be 2:00 PM. Thursday, January 27, 2005 at the Morning Star United Methodist Church with Rev. John Walker officiating.
The family will receive friends at the church on Thursday from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM.
Interment will be in Morning Star Cemetery under the direction of Davis-Smith Funeral Home, Hot Springs.
Honorary pallbearers will be Wayne and Jean Huggs, John and Lucille Bodden, Mary Sue Lane, Charlotte and Dennis Fason, Dr. William Cole, Scotty and Melissa Howell, Leroy Sales, and the staff of The Caring Place.
