EAST BEND — Mrs. Betty Ellen Hutchens Wooten, 83, passed away Monday, May 22, 2017, at Forsyth Medical Center.

Mrs. Wooten was born Jan. 18, 1934, to the late Evan and Sarah Smitherman Hutchens. She lived all her life in the Quaker Forbush area where she always called it the Garden Spot of the World.

Mrs. Wooten was a lifelong and faithful member of Forbush Friends Meeting. Betty was a devoted and loving caregiver to her husband until he passed away in 2014. She enjoyed her family, her church family, and watching westerns on TV.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Edgar Wooten; her son, Gary Wooten; her daughter-in-law, Kathy; and a very special neighbor and friend, Mickey Clodfelter; two sisters, Nell Bryant, Ida Lawson; and two brothers, Reynolds and Ralph Hutchens.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Dianne and Ray Shore of Tobaccoville; one sister, Dot Crews of Boonville; three sisters-in-law, Barbara Gentry of Yadkinville, Cora Hutchens and Peggy Wooten, one brother-in-law, Allen Wooten, all of East Bend; and lots of nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, May 24, 2017, at Gentry Family Funeral Service in Yadkinville. Her funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, May 25, 2017, at Forbush Friends Meeting by the Rev. Jake Penley and the Rev. Ray Lambe. She will lie in state 30 minutes prior to the service. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
