Smitherman, 74, of Dixie Drive, and formerly of Yadkinville, NC passed
away Saturday, December 13, 2014 at New Hanover Regional Medical Center
in Wilmington, NC.
She was born January 2, 1940 in Yadkin County to the late Carl Greene and Ila Mae Sprinkle Miller. Mrs. Smitherman was retired from DuPont Textile and was of the Baptist Faith. She loved taking care of her animals, gardening outside, and most importantly spending time with her family.
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her sister, Jerlene Hutchens and by a brother, Hurley Miller.
Surviving are her daughter, Beverly Brown of Leland; Michael Smitherman, and wife, Kelly of Leland; 3 grandchildren, Kelley J. Phillips, Adam Smitherman, Noah Smitherman; her sister, Marie Hutchens, and husband, Richard of Yadkinville; special friends, Deana Floyd, Tommy and Juanita Hyatt, and Karen Mullins; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 1: 00-2:00 PM Thursday at Gentry Family Funeral Service in Yadkinville NC. Her funeral service will be 2:00 PM Thursday in the Gentry Family Chapel by Rev. Allen Barker . Burial will follow in Turners Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.
