Billy Joe Smitherman, a former self-employed carpenter, died Monday at a hospital in Baldwin County. He was 72.
Smitherman was a native of Chilton, Ala., and a resident of Bay Minette.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War.
Survivors include a son, Terry Smitherman of Chunchula; a daughter, B.J. Griffin of Jackson, Ala.; three sisters, Faye Booth of Ponce De Leon, Fla., Doris Young of Ebro, Fla., and Barbara Walker of Linden, Ala.; and six grandchildren.
Visitation will be today from 10:30 a.m. until the 11 a.m. service at Lathan Funeral Home in Jackson. Burial will be in Trinity Memorial Gardens in Jackson.
