Gene Smitherman age 74 of New Castle passed away Monday July 27, 2009 at Henry
County County Hospital.
He was born Nov. 19, 1934 in New Castle the son of the late Gaither Odell and Eva Duvall Smitherman. He worked at the Wayne Michigan Ford Motor Company for many years and later retired. He graduated from the New Castle High School. Survived by several cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Services will be Saturday August 1, 2009 at 11 AM at Marcum Community Funeral Home. Rev. Dave Whitteberry will be officiating. Burial will follow in South Mound Cemetery. Friends may call 9-11 AM Saturday prior to service. Online condolences may be made at www.marcumfuneralhome.com. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the American Cancer Society and American Heart Society.
