Carol darlene Smitherman

Carol Smitherman, 64, of Birmingham, AL passed away October 5, 2019. She was a retired teacher. Carol taught first grade at Central Park Elementary in Birmingham, AL her entire career. She was a member of NAWGJ where she judged USA gymnastics for 40 years. Carol was preceded in death by her parents, Joan Hosmer Smitherman and Bobby L. Smitherman; and her sister, Lori Killingsworth. She is survived by her brother, Lee (Krista) Smitherman of Atlanta, GA; her sister, Beth (Wayne) McMurry of Hoover, AL; her nieces, Sharon (Mike) Edmondson, Melisa Saccucci, and DeEtte Currie; her nephews, Chad Alexander and Brent Alexander; her god-daughter, Sarah Horton; her god-son, Elijah Horton and many beloved great-nieces and nephews.
