for three months, Carolyn Crane Smitherman, 60, Lexington, Va., died
Saturday, Oct 21, 1989 at Bethesda, Md. She had been a
Mooresville resident most of her life, moving to Virginia in 1985.
The daughter of Dolph and Lenore La Velle Crane, she was born Nov 7, 1928 in Rushville.
Mrs. Smitherman was a nursing home administrator for the Beverly Corp. from 1986 to 1988 in Virginia. She was currently employed at a business office associate for Edward D Jones and Associates in Lexington. She was a member of the Mooresville Friends Church, PEO Sorority, Tri Kappa, Garden Club, Likely Literary Club and was past president of Indiana State General Assembly Women.
Survivors include a son, Thomas Smitherman, Lexington, Va.; three daughters, Sara Fox, Commack, NY., Emily Reel, Lexington, Va., and Rebecca Smith, Germantown, Md; two brothers, Richard Crane, Milroy, and John Crane, Rushville; four sisters, Mary Swarts, Rushville, Jeanne Rohr, Farmington Hills, Mich., Ann Heilman, New Castle, and Alice Spuller, Hickory, NC; and seven grandchildren.
Her funeral will be 2pm Thursday at the Milroy Methodist Church. The Revs Rick Schultze and Jim Bushfield will officiate. Burial will follow in East Hill Cemetery in Rushville.
Friends may call 2 to 4 pm and 6 to 8pm today at Carlisle and Son Funeral Chapel in Mooresville.
Memorial contributions may be made to the PEO Continuing Ed Fund.
