Carolyn
Sue Smitherman, 54, of Austin passed away Saturday August 22,2009 in
The Christopher House Hospice after a brave struggle withcancer.She was
born to the late Erwin L. and Vaurine Simpson Cude on January28, 1955
in Houston Texas. She graduated from Smiley High School inHouston and
started her career in banking after attending HoustonCommunity College.
She went on to marry Rick D. Smitherman in July1980 and remained in
banking until 1983 when the first of their twochildren, Megan Sue
Smitherman was born. In 1985, Lauren LynnSmitherman was born and
Carolyn dedicated her life to raising thechildren.In 1989 they moved to
Austin, Texas and in 1992 to New Hampshire onlyto return to Austin in
1996. Carolyn was active throughouther life in local school, community
and church activities.Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents, and
sister ConnieBillingsley of Mayfield, TX. She is survived by her two
children,Lauren Smitherman of Austin, Megan and husband Matt Wood of
LivingstonTX and grandson Jacob Matthew Wood.We wish to thank the staff
at The Shivers Center at BrackenridgeHospital and Christopher House
Austin for their care and supportduring her illness.Memorial services
are scheduled at Westlake United Methodist Churchfor 11:00 am on
Saturday, August 29, 2009 which is located at 1460Redbud Trail, West
Lake Hills, TX 78746 with a celebration of her lifefollowing at Bridges
at the Park 210 Lee Barton Dr, Austin TX 78704.
