Charley B Haley

Charley B. Haley, 73, of Sedalia, died Wednesday, Aug. 25, 2004, at Bothwell Regional Health Center.

He was born July 6, 1931, in Coffee County, Tenn., a son of Roy and Ruth Smitherman Haley. On Dec. 8, 1969, in Thailand, he was married to Penkae Sookpong, who survives of the home.

Mr. Haley retired from Whiteman Air Force Base as a senior master sergeant after serving 22 years in the Air Force. He was a crew member of a B-36 squadron in California. He also served a tour of duty in Thailand during the Vietnam War. He was a manager for OATS Bus Service for 19 years. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Hayti, Mo. He enjoyed walking and playing bingo with his wife.

Surviving are a son, CP Haley, of Chesterfield; and an adopted brother,Virgil Jewel, of Nashville, Tenn.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at McLaughlin Funeral Chapel, with the Rev. Dr. Drew Hill. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, with military rites conducted by the Whiteman Air Force Base Honor Guard. The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until service time Saturday at the funeral chapel.

The family suggests memorial contributions to the charity of the donor's choice.
