clifford milton smitherman 

Funeral will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Collier-Butler Funeral Chapel for Clifford "Milton" Smitherman, 69, Gadsden, who passed away Sunday, Jan. 16, 2005. His nephew, the Rev. Gene Smitherman, will officiate. Burial in Crestwood Cemetery. Collier-Butler Funeral Home is in charge.

Mr. Smitherman was a native and lifelong resident of Etowah County. He was preceded in death by his wife, Bonnie Smitherman. He was a professional engineer with Gulf States Steel and an active member of the First Baptist Church of Gadsden. He was a past member of Noccalula Civitan Club where he was a Boy Scout master for Troop No. 54.

He is survived by his children, Janie (Tim) Roper, Thomas Grady Smitherman and Kay (Terry) Collier; grandchildren, Jennifer and Lee Roper, Aric, Sean and Jessica Collier; sister, Jeanette (Phillip) Sullivan; and several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Larry, Jim and Jason Brittain, Darden Bourne, Bufford Bowers, Ray Dunnington, Jim Stivender, Benny and Eddie Weaver and Bob Guyton. Honorary pallbearer will be Dr. Ralph Wesley. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight at the funeral home.
