- Colten Riley Smitherman, 4, died Thursday, November 11, 1999,
following injuries sustained in an automobile accident.Smitherman was born November 1, 1995, in Clarke County. He was a son of Steven Smitherman, Daniels-ville, and the late Stacey M. Smitherman.
Smitherman was a student at the Jefferson First Baptist Church Preschool.
In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Mary A. Martin.
Funeral services were held Sunday, November 14, in the chapel of Jackson Funeral Home, Jefferson, with the Rev. Jesse Mealor and Dr. Gerald Mitton officiating. Burial was in Jackson Memorial Gardens, Commerce.
Survivors, in addition to his father, include paternal grandparents, Bill and Marie Smitherman, Danielsville; and maternal grandfather, William "Bill" Martin, Jefferson.
Jackson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
