dallas "dale" earl cundiff

WINSTON-SALEM - Dallas "Dale" Earl Cundiff, 76, passed away Sunday, February 1, 2009 at Forsyth Medical Center. He was born in Forsyth County, the son of Jesse and Clara Mae Walker Cundiff. Dale was a U. S. Army veteran, a graduate of NC State University, and attended Calvary Baptist Church. Dale loved boating and was a member of the Power Squadron Sailboating Club. Dale, along with his late wife, Nancy, owned and operated Ski & Skiff shop in Winston-Salem and owned Cundiff Associates Architects. Dale operated this business until retiring last year at age 75 and was responsible for designing the Federal and State Courthouses, Forsyth Tech, Stratford Oaks, WS Transit Authority, along with several homes and churches in North Carolina. Dale was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Nancy, a daughter, Heather, a brother, Alvin, and a sister, Lois. Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Miles and Wendy Cundiff of Winston-Salem; a special friend, Elaine Myers of Winston-Salem; a sister, Dorothy "Dot" and husband, Clyde "Bugs" Phillips of Advance; a niece, Rita Moore of Winston-Salem; three grandchildren, Krista Causey, and fiance, Jeff Van Meter, Dylan Cundiff and Zachary Shirley; great grandchildren, Pierson, Makayla, Dylan, and Jarrod; great niece and nephew, Lindsay and Jordan Wood; friends, Gene and Carole Grubbs, Becky Everhart, and Bruce Shaw, life-long friends, Jim and Earline Pryor; and numerous extended family and friends. A memorial service will be conducted Wednesday, February 4, 2009, at 6 p.m. at the Hayworth Miller Silas Creek Chapel officiated by the Reverend Tracy Pryor. The family will receive friends following the service at the funeral home and also at Dale' s home afterwards. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to be made to The Domestic Violence Resource Center of Alexander County, P. O.
