Smitherman, Sr., age 76, of 13654 Hwy. 171, died January 17, 2003 at
DCH Regional Medical Center. Services will be held Monday, January 20,
2003 at 3:00 p.m. at Heritage Chapel. Dr. Steve Canada and Rev. Jerry
Montgomery officiating. Burial will follow in Tuscaloosa Memorial Park.
Visitation is one hour prior to service. Heritage Chapel Funeral Home
directing.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Vernon and Montez Smitherman.
Survivors include spouse, Nancy Henderson Smitherman, Northport; daughter, Dr. Deborah Lenahan (Arthur, Jr.), Grand Junction, Colo.; son, Daniel Brown Smitherman, Jr. (Sharon), Canastoga, N.Y.; brothers, David P. Smitherman (Margaret), Huntsville; Lonnie E. Smitherman (Rose), Chunchula; grandchildren, Amy Smitherman, New Haven, Conn.; Steven Smitherman, Tuscaloosa; Arthur Lenahan III and Catlin Lenahan, Grand Junction, Colo.; step-grandchildren, Dena Soulaks (Andrew), Mt. Airy, Mo.; William Bordessa (Lori), Napa Valley, Calif.; step-great-grandson, Will Bordessa.
He was a graduate of Bibb County High School, and attended the University of Alabama. He was married for 53 years, a member of Five Points Baptist Church. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather.
Pallbearers will be Wayne Patrick, Dan Johnson, Tom Grammas, Wendell Smitherman, David Smitherman, Jr., John Richardson and Alfred Herring.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to Christian Life Center of Five Points Baptist Church.
