virginia dare (dishman) brown



Mrs. Dare Dishman Brown, 87, of Jim Burkett Road, Zionville, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, June 26, 2010.
Mrs. Brown was born July 7, 1927 in Watauga County, a daughter of the late Spencer and Maggie Smitherman Dishman.
She was a retired cashier, waitress, and cook for the Carolina Pharmacy in Boone, and a member of Westview Baptist Church.
Mrs. Brown is survived by one son, John Brown and wife, Barbara, of Zionville; one sister, Helen Dotson of Boone; two granddaughters, Kelly Goodman and husband, Mark, of Vilas, and Miranda Norris and husband, Steve, of Boone; one grandson, Johnny Brown Jr. and wife,  Jennifer, of Boone; one great-granddaughter, Magan Goodman of Vilas; three great-grandsons, Dylan and Darren Goodman of Vilas and Johnny "Mack" Brown III of Boone; and one sister-in-law, Snow Brown Greer. She is also survived by a number of nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Clint Brown; one son, Kenneth Brown; two brothers, Glenn Dishman and Mack Dishman, and two sisters, Georgie Lawrence and Dora Eggers.
Services  will be conducted Tuesday, June 29, 2010, at 3 p.m. at Hampton Funeral Home Chapel. The body will lie in state at the chapel from 1:30 until 3 p.m. Officiating will be the Rev. Mike Townsend. Burial will follow in the Westview Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Tuesday  from 1:30 until 3 p.m. at the funeral home prior to the service.
