Services for David Alvin Smitherman, 84, of Longview will be 10 AM Saturday, October 27th at the Rader Funeral Home Chapel, 1617 Judson Rd, with Reverend Ronnie Starr officiating. Burial will follow in Rosewood Park Cemetery.
Mr. Smitherman died Thursday morning, October 25 at a Longview hospital.

He was born December 12, 1916 to Dan and Lovie Smitherman, pioneer citizens of Longview.

Mr. Smitherman worked for E. K. Bennett, Inc. for twenty-five years and retired from Texas Eastman in 1982 and was a member of the Woodland Hills Baptist Church.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday evening from 6 PM until 8 PM.

He is survived by his wife, Ruby Crain Smitherman. They had just observed their 64th wedding anniversary September 20, 2001.
He is survived by four sons, Clyde and his wife Mary of West Monroe, LA., Claude and wife, Ruby Jo, Danny and Michael of Longview; 7 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
He is also survived by a sister, Virgie Winegar of Longview.
D. A. loved the Lord and was a great soul winner.
He had many friends and always willing to help those in need.
He leaves a loving memory and will be missed by all of those who knew him.
