Rev. Donald Eugene Smitherman,
Sr., age 82, of Oneonta, AL passed away on May 16, 2015 at a Birmingham
Hospital. He was a Methodist Minister for 60 years and was married for
63 years.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing and raising bird dogs.
Preceding him in death were his parents Andrew and Otis Smitherman and cousin Burt Taylor. Survivors include his wife Peggy Smitherman of Oneonta; daughter Vanessa Mathis (Ronnie) of Childersburg; son Donald E. Smitherman, Jr. of Albertville; four grandchildren; four great grandchildren.
The family received friends on Tuesday, May 19, 2015 at Lemley Funeral Home from 6 to 8 PM. Funeral service was held on Wednesday, May 20, 2015 at 9 AM at Lemley Chapel with Rev. James Cotton and Gene Blackmon officiating. Burial followed in the Montevallo National Cemetery. Lemley Funeral Home and Crematory directing
