Mrs. Dovie Younce Combs, 70, of 715 Cooper Drive, Charlotte, a former resident of Watauga County, died Sunday, May 12, 1996.
Funeral is 2 p.m. Wednesday at Mountain Dale Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Bethel Community Cemetery in Watauga County. Visitation is 7-9p.m. today at South Charlotte Baptist Church, 12416 Lancaster Highway, Pineville and Tuesday evening from 7-9 p.m. at Hampton Funeral Service in Boone.
Mrs. Combs is survived by her husband, Rufus Combs, of the home.; three sons, Bob Smitherman of Gastonia; Michael Smitherman of Pilot Mountain; Mark Smitherman of Washington, West Virginia; four sisters, Ms. Juanita Harmeyer and Mrs. Barbara Ann Bartlet, both of Vilas; Mrs. Alma Hurley of West Chester, Ohio and Mrs. Ruby Taylor of Kannapolis; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
