GARRISON EAST BEND - Mrs. Estelle Smitherman Hoots Garrison, 88, passed away
Tuesday, July 28, 2009 at Forsyth Medical Center. She was born August 3, 1920 in
Yadkin County to the late Willie and Rachel Smitherman. In addition to her
parents, she was preceded in death by her 1st husband, Pride Henry Hoots; 2nd
husband, John Frank Garrison; son, Allen R. Hoots; step children, Weldon (Floy
Neil) Garrison, Peggy Kite; sister, Rachel S. Hester; and brother, Willie E.
Smitherman. Surviving are her children, Elsie B. Hoots, Carol H. Gregory, Thomas
H. (Judy) Hoots, Libby (Lawrence) Grubbs; step-sons, Alvin (Martha) Garrison,
Rev. Mervin (Kay) Garrison; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren,
great-great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Mildred S. Smitherman; and nephew,
John (Betty) Hester. Her Funeral Service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, August
1, 2009 at Enon Baptist Church by the Rev. Mark Elmore. Burial will follow in
the Church cemetery. She will lie in-state 30 minutes prior to the service. The
family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, July 31, 2009 at Gentry
Family Funeral Service in Yadkinville. Memorials may be made to Enon Baptist
