AUGUSTA, GA.- EUGENE
HOWARD SMITHERMAN, passed away December 25, 2001, at the Augusta V.A.
Hospital. Mr. Smitherman was the son of the late Rudolph Strider
SMITHERMAN and Kate Mabel ROBINSON, formly of Chilton Co. Ala. Mr.
Smitherman was born June 22, 1921, in Bessemer, Ala. Mr. Smitherman was
a veteran of the U. S. Navy, in World War II, serving on the air craft
carrier, USS MIDWAY, and a 35 Year retiree of the Georgia Railroad. He
is survived by one son, Robert E. Smitherman, Sr., Augusta, Ga., three
grandchildren, Robert E. Smitherman, Jr., Grovetown, Ga., Grady Gene
Smitherman, Augusta, Ga., Robin D. Smitherman, Augusta, Ga. one
brother, Owen Crawford Smitherman, Evans, Ga., three sisters,
Georgianne Tye, Monterey, Calif., Doris Barrs, Edgefield, S.C., Betty
Su Hambrick, Augusta, Ga.
