YADKINVILLE — Evelyn Jane
Steinmiller Smitherman, 92, a devoted mother and grandmother, passed
away Nov. 24, 2016. She was born Oct. 23, 1924, to the late George
Carlton and Lelah May Hellar Steinmiller.
She graduated as valedictorian of her class. Mrs. Smitherman was a wonderful cook and loved to cook for her family. She was an avid member of the Eastern Star Organization.
Mrs. Smitherman was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Rex Monroe Smitherman. Surviving are her daughter, Nancy (Bob) Allred; her son, Wes (Joy) Smitherman; grandchildren, Ryan Allred, Brett Allred.
A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Nov. 30, 2016, at Baltimore United Methodist Church by the Rev. Nelson Puffenburger. Memorials may be made to Pilot View Friends Church, 3225 Pilot View Church Road, Yadkinville, NC 27055.
