Gilbert H. Smitherman, age 78, of 9421 Albemarle Rd., died May 28, 1972 in a local hospital.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the McEwen West Chapel, with the Rev. J.W. Digh, pastor of the Wilson Grove Baptist Church and the Rev. Jake Peneley officiating.
Burial will be in Evergreen City Cemetery. He was born Sept. 16, 1893 in Yadkin County, N.C., son of the late Robert and Betty Spillman Smitherman.
He is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Hester Hockett of Union, Iowa and Mrs. Sarah Hutchins of East Bend, N.C.; three brothers, Robert Smitherman and Yancy Smitherman, both of East Bend. N.C. and Jodie Smitherman of Lewisville, N.C.
Nephews witll service as pallbearers.
