Henry E. Cramer, age 92, of Aurora, passed away Friday, March 11, 2016, at Memorial Community Care in Aurora.Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, March 22 at the Pleasant View Bible Church in Aurora. Rev. Bob Gannon and Rev. Paul Nauman will officiate. Interment will be in the Aurora Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. on Monday at Higby-McQuiston Mortuary in Aurora. Henry (Heinrich) E. Cramer, the son of Enne and Hinrike (Bless) Cramer, was born in Germany on June 20, 1923 and passed away in Aurora, on March 11, 2016, at the age of 92.
Henry grew up in Germany and went to school for 8 years. He worked on a farm from age 15 to 17 1/2 (1939-1941), with his father. Henry was drafted into the German Army in June 1942. He was trained in Morse code. Henry served on the East Front (Russia) from December 1942 to the end of WWII. Henry came to the U.S.A. in November 1950. He became a U.S. Citizen on April 17, 1957. He traveled from Canada to South America and the East Coast to West Coast. Henry was able to visit in 10 different countries.
Henry was married to Esther Smitherman on May 18, 1956 at Omaha. Three children born to this union; Paul, Ruth Ann and Mark. They lived in Nebraska at Papillion, Omaha and Dannebrog, before they finally settled in Aurora. Henry’s work was always farm and dairy related. In later years, he sold feed and then drove a bus for Aurora Public Schools. Esther passed away on June 22, 1981.
Henry married Wilmadeen Yenne Kugler on June 30, 1984.
Henry was a member of Pleasant View Bible Church in Aurora.
He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife; son, Paul; three sisters, Henni, Mathilde and Therese and two brothers, Bernhard and Enno Cramer.
Those who remain to cherish his memory are his wife, Wilmadeen Cramer of Aurora; two children, Ruth Ann (David) Wyatt of Syracuse and Mark (Alecia) Cramer of Owasso, Oklahoma; 9 grandchildren, Ben, Sarah and Isaac Cramer, Aaron, Kyle and Jamison Wyatt, Riley, Sadie and Sofie Cramer; one great-granddaughter, Meg Wyatt; his brother, Erich Cramer of Germany and two sisters-in-laws, Anneliese Cramer and Gertrud Cramer, both of Germany. He is also survived by 4 step-children, Peggy Remus of North Platte, Mickee Neely of Minneapolis, Minnesota, John Kugler of Broken Bow and Patricia Ratliff of Omaha; 12 step grandchildren and 13 step great-grandchildren.
