Helen Davis Feimster Smitherman, 80, of North Bridge Street passed away Wednesday, Dec. 3, 2003, at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center.

Mrs. Smitherman was born Dec. 1, 1923, in Forsyth County to William Henry and Ada Ardella Chandler Davis. Mrs. Smitherman was a homemaker and a member of Jonesville First Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Horace W. Feimster Jr.; and by her second husband, Robert L. Smitherman. Survivors include three daughters, Bobbie Reinhardt and her husband Donald of Jonesville, Trudy Griffin and her husband David of Charlotte and Judy Smitherman of Florida; four brothers, Bobby Davis and his wife Toyce of Old Town, Tommy Davis and his wife Norma of California, Jimmy Davis and his wife Dani of Weatherford, Texas, and Clyde Davis of Carolina Beach; two sisters, Mary Fry of Lexington and Lana Kite and her husband Melvin of Lexington; three sisters-in-law, Evelyn Sparks, Joan Dawson and Opal Mabe; a brother-in-law, Wes Smitherman and his wife Lynette; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and special friends, Ethyl Spencer, Ruby Swaim, Mozelle Wooten, Gail Shores, Judy Williams and Brooke and Sara Johnson.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 6, at Hodges Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Roger Hensley and the Rev. Ray Hamilton. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be sent to Jonesville First Baptist Church or to a charity of the donor's choice. Hodges Funeral Home in Elkin is serving the Smitherman family.
