Ila Mae Smitherman, age 86, of
McCalla passed away at her river home in Adger on Saturday, August 8,
2015. She was preceded in death by her husband, Moses Levi Smitherman, her parents, Armon and Josie Scott, her seven siblings and three great-grandsons.
Ila was retired from Sears after 24 years and was a member of Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church.
Mrs. Smitherman is survived by her sons, Ronald Wayne Smitherman (Rose) and Aubrey Lee Smitherman (Sue); daughters, Rebecca Hughes, Theresa Smitherman and Margaret Palmer (David); 14 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, several great-great grandchildren and her beloved dog, Prissy.
Funeral service will be on Wednesday, August 12, 2015 at 2:00 PM at McCalla Memorial Funeral Home with burial to follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 2:00 PM on the day of the service. Pallbearers will be Aubrey Lee Smitherman Jr., Rodney Lane Smitherman, Jeremy Eugene Raney, Timothy Lee Hughes, Colby R. Fox and Stephen Cunningham.
