Mary Inez Payne Smitherman, 79, of Maplesville, died Monday, Sept. 4, 2006 at Hatley Health Care in Clanton.
She was born Sunday, Dec. 26, 1926 in Alabama, daughter of the late Albert Payne and the late Essie Mae Frith.
She was a homemaker.
Surviving are son, Douglas (Charlotte) Smitherman of Maplesville; son, Daniel (Patty) Smitherman of Maplesville; son, Bobby (Mary Jane) Smitherman of Maplesville; son, Roland (Debra) Smitherman of Grand Bay; son, Roger (Bonnie) Smitherman of Maplesville; son, Randy (Pam) Smitherman of Maplesville; daughter, Fay (Tom) Carter of Maplesville; daughter, Wanda (Steve) Bistline of Pensacola, Fla.; daughter, Annette Smitherman of Maplesville; 23 grandchildren, 38 great-grandchildren, four great-great grandchildren; brother, Fred Payne of Randolph; brother, Tom Payne of West Blockton; sister, Betty Smith of Maplesville; sister, Sedera Bush of Maplesville.
Services were held Tuesday, Sept. 5, 2006, at 11 a.m. at Mt. Carmel Baptist No. 2 with the Rev. Scott Tuell officiating.
Interment will follow at Mt. Carmel Baptist No. 2 in Maplesville.
