James H. Smitherman, 95, passed
away Thursday, December 18, 2008. Mr. Smitherman was a native and
lifelong resident of Jacksonville and retired from the International
Brotherhood of Ironworkers Local # 597. He was preceded in death by his
wife Ella Mae Smitherman. Survivors include one daughter, Betty Waters;
one son, David Smitherman; six sisters, Frances, Ira, Ann, Mamie Ruth,
Barbara and Ethel; three grandchildren, three great grandchildren;
several nieces and nephews, other loving family and dear friends. He
will be truly missed by all. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am
Monday, December 22, in the chapel of Corey-Kerlin Funeral Home, 1426
Rowe Avenue, with Rev. F. Ray Turner officiating. Interment will follow
in Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 3:00 to
