Mr. James O. Mickey Jr., 70, of Williams Street, Jonesville, left to be with the Lord, Thursday, August 2, 2007.  Mr. Mickey was born August 16, 1936, in Forsyth County to James O. and Gypsy Smitherman Mickey Sr. 

Mr. Mickey retired from Chatham Manufacturing and was a member of First Baptist Church of Jonesville. He retired from the Jonesville Fire Department.  He was a devoted husband and father and loved by many people.  He will be greatly missed by many loved ones. He is at peace with the Lord.  He was preceded in death by his parents.  

Survivors include:  his wife of 50 years, Betty McBride Mickey of the home; a son, Greg Mickey and wife Beth of Spartanburg, SC; a daughter, Melinda Haynes Garrett and husband, Bobby of Hendersonville; and five grandchildren, Hannah Mickey, Meredith Mickey, Austin Haynes, Ryan Haynes and Julia Haynes. 

Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 4, 2007, at 11 a.m. at Hodges Funeral Home Chapel by Dr. Ray Hamilton and the Rev. Roger Hensley.  Burial will follow at Crestwood Memorial Gardens.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 10-11 a.m. at Hodges Funeral Home in Elkin.  

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made to the Jonesville Fire Department or to First Baptist Church of Jonesville.
