El Paso, Texas -  Jan Smitherman passed away on Christmas Eve at the age of 61.  She was born in Anderson.

Jan was a resident of El Paso for 10 years, and she worked as nurse for Hospice of El Paso.

Jan is survived by her children, Doug and Laura, and her sisters, Naomi York and Ellen Ward.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Arvie and Elsie Spall; and her stepmother, Beulah Spall.

Services will be held at 3 p.m. today at St. Frances on the Hill Episcopal Church in El Paso, Texas.

A memorial service will be held later this year in Anderson.
