FLOYDADA - John Bryan Smitherman, 70, of Floydada, died at 7:30 p.m. today in Caprock Hospital here after a two year illness.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the First Baptist Church of Floydada with the Rev. Floyd C. Bradley, pastor. and the Rev. Clay Guest of Cedar Hill Baptist Church in Silverton, officiating. Burial will be in Floyd County Cemetery under direction of Moore - Ross Funeral Home.
A past member of the City Council and past president of the Floyd County Country Club board of directors, Smitherman had been a Floyd county resident since 1917. He was a retired farmer of the South Plains Community.
Survivors include his widow, Gertrude; two sons, Mac Smitherman and Rex Smitherman, both of Floydada; two brothers, Jack Smitherman of South Plains community and Earnest Smitherman of Floydada; and a sister, Mrs. Fred Cox of Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.
