CHOPLIN EAST BEND - Mr. John
Wesley Choplin, 88, of East Bend passed away Friday, June 8, 2007, at
Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. He was born in Yadkin County on May 3,
1919, to John Wesley and Amelia Blakley Choplin Sr. Mr. Choplin was a
member of East Bend Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his
parents, a son, Jerry Choplin; and three brothers, Charlie, Howard and
Hubert Choplin. Surviving are his wife of 65 years, Minnie Lee Choplin
of the home; a daughter, Carolyn (Bill) Smitherman of East Bend; a son,
Johnny (Gay Nell) Choplin of East Bend; two sisters, Annie Pearl
Hutchens of Yadkinville and Dorothy (Max) Potter of East Bend; two
brothers, Tommie Choplin of Kernersville and Augburn (Eris) Choplin of
Winston-Salem; three grandchildren, Paul Choplin, Jenny (Ronald) Keaton
and Nicky (Janet) Smitherman; six great-grandchildren, Paige and Faith
Keaton, Cierra and Abigail Smitherman and Sydnee and Garrett Choplin;
and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services willl be
conducted at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, June 10, at East Bend Baptist Church,
with the Rev. Bobby Choplin and Mr. Jeff Messick officiating. The body
will be placed in the church at 2 p.m. Burial will follow in the church
cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 this evening,
June 9, at Huff Funeral Home in East Bend. Memorials may be made to
