Mr. John W. Smitherman III, 42, of Charlotte died Monday, December 29, 1997, at his home.
Mr. Smitherman was born on April 1, 1955, in Charlotte, NC, a son of John Wilson Smitherman II and Mary Alexander Smitherman. He was a graduate of Myers Park High School and the University of North Caroloina at Chapel Hill, where he was a member of the Kappa Sigma Fraternity.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Smitherman is survived by two brothers, William Clayton Smitherman of Charlotte, and James Ashby Smitherman and his wife, Betsy, of Zionsville, Indiana; a nephew, David Smitherman; and three nieces, Lisa Smitherman, Rachel Smitherman and Natalie Smitherman.
Memorial services will be held at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, Decemeber 31, 1997, at Myers Park United Methodist Church with the Reverend Melvin D. McIntosh officiating.
In liew of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to Myers Park United Methodist Church, 1020 Providence Road, Charlotte, NC 28207.
