- Services for Johnnie W. Smitherman, 65, Kennard, formerly of Pollok,
are scheduled for 2 p.m. Sunday at Oakley-Metcalf Funeral Home chapel
with Rev. Buddy Jones officiating.Burial will be in Conner Cemetery, Houston County.
Mr. Smitherman died March 22, 2007, in Lufkin.
He was born July 10, 1941, in Houston County. He was a retired welder for Lufkin Industries. He was a member of Plain Baptist Church and resided in Pollok most of his life.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 43 years, Betty in 2005; parents, Arrie and Alice Bell McKinney Smitherman; brother, Raymond Smitherman; son-in-law, Jim Hope; father-in-law, J.C. Basham; and brother-in-law, Aubrey Walker.
Survivors include daughters, Rhonda Renee Pope and Wanda Lanell Davis, both of Pollok; sister, Patsy Walker, Pollok; three grandchildren; stepmother, Juanita Smitherman; nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Family will receive friends 5-8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
