Funeral services for Juanita Smitherman, 89, of Pollok, will be Sunday, December 8th at 2 p.m. in the United Pentecostal Church in Alto with Rev. James Littlefield officiating. Burial will be held in the Gann Cemetery in Central. Mrs. Smitherman passed away Wednesday in Lufkin. She was born October 11, 1924 in Lilbert, Texas to Arthur and Pernice Anne Adella Easley Wallace. She lived in the Alto and Central area for most of her life before moving to Pollok where she has lived for the last 10 years. She was a member of the United Pentecostal Church in Alto and was a homemaker. Mrs. Smitherman was an old time country woman who worked hard and was devoted to her family. She is preceded in death by her husband, Arrie Smitherman, four brothers and one sister. Survivors include daughters, Patsy Walker of Pollok, LaNell Davis of Lufkin, Rhonda Hope of Austin; grandson, Aubrey Wayne Walker and wife Tammy of Central; great-grandchildren, Alex, Andy and A.J. Walker and Trent McCay. Pallbearers are Alex Walker, Andy Walker, Trent McCay, Jeryl Gage, Ricky Gates and Dennis McIntyre. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, December 7th at O.T. Allen & Son Funeral Home, Alto.
