Funeral services for Mrs. Lenora Hargett Smitherman, 60, of Rt. 1, Albemarle Highway, who died yesterday in a local hospital, were held at 2 p.m. today in McEwen West Chapel.

The Rev. Malcolm R. Williamson, pastor of Third Presbyterian Church, officiated.  Interment was in Evergreen cemetery.

Mrs. Smitherman was born Sept. 6, 1899, in Union County, daughter of the late J.E. and Sarah Ellen Williams Hargett.

For 32 years she was employed in the silk department of Belk Bros. Co. She was a member of the Third Presbyterian Church.

Survivors include her husband, H.G. Smitherman; four sisters, Mrs. Clem Baucom of Concord, Mrs. James Helms, Mrs. Clayton Helms and Mrs J.L. HIll of Marshville; two brothers, D.A. Hargett of Matthews and J.G. Hargett of Marshville.

Pallbearers were John Hargett, Harold Hill, Ray Baucom, Gene Baucom, O.B. Baucom and Billy W. Smith.
