Lessie B. Smitherman, 87, of Lawley, Alabama passed away January 17, 2021 at Shelby Baptist Medical Center, Alabaster, AL.He was born September 18, 1933 in Bibb County, son of Garry Smitherman and Gracie Henderson Smitherman.
He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He was a veteran of the United States Army.
He was a man of many talents, farmer, mechanic, electrician, and carpenter.
Surviving are his Daughters, Liz (Jim) Smitherman, Sharon Roberts, Patricia Smitherman; Sons, Gary Smitherman, James (Barbara) Smitherman; 4 Grandchildren and 2 Great-Grandchildren; Sisters, Christine Hoggle, Madalene Davis, Arlene Thrower; Brothers, Bobby Smitherman, James Smitherman; his Beloved Dog, Prissy.
He was preceded in death by his Wife of 56 years, Flocy Smitherman; Father, Garry Smitherman; Mother, Gracie Henderson; Daughter, Carol Smitherman; Brothers, Bill Smitherman, Willard Smitherman, Dean Smitherman; Sisters, Mary Lou Pierce, Maggie Mae Cyree.
Friends will be received Wednesday, January 20, 2021 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Martin Funeral Home.
Services will be held Thursday, January 21, 2021, at 11:00 a.m. at Friendship Baptist Church, Highway 183 Lawley, AL with Rev. Donald Harris officiating.
Interment will follow in Randolph Baptist Cemetery, Randolph, Alabama.
The family wishes to express their appreciation to the staff at Hatley Health Care of Clanton, AL and to the staff at Shelby Baptist Hospital, CICU, 2 North and especially Missy with Encompass Hospice.
