(Beck) Smitherman, 87, died March 19, 1996, at her home.
Smitherman married Wendell W. Smitherman. He preceded her in death.
Smitherman was an elementary school teacher in Avon, Plainfield, Danville and New Winchester schools. She retired in 1976, after 27 years of teaching. Smitherman was a member of the Danville Camp of the Gideons, a member of the Belleville Church of Christ, Hendricks County Garden Club, and Amo Homemakers Club. She was a former member of the Amo and Hadley Friends Meeting.
Survivors include three sons, John Smitherman of Danville, Mark Smitherman of Coatesville and Marvin Smitherman of Grand Rapids, Mich.; two daughters, Mary Jane Hartang of Danville and Bonne Covey of Norman, Okla.; 12 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
Calling will be from 4-8 p.m. March 22 at Weaver Funeral Home in Danville.
Services will be at 10 a.m. March 23 at Weaver Funeral Home.
Burial will be in Coatesville Cemetery.
