Lorie Lee Embry, age 45, ended her 8 year battle with cancer and passed peacefully from this life on Thursday, July 30, 2015 at Texoma Medical Center in Denison.

Lorie was born October 31, 1969 in Denison, Texas; the daughter of Danny Smitherman and Mary Jane (Woodson). Lorie attended school in Tom Bean, Texas where she spent most of her childhood. Lorie married Kevin Embry on August 1, 1985 in Tom Bean, Texas. Mrs. Embry worked as a data entry specialist at Gulfstream Aero Space in Dallas, Texas for the last 17 years until March 9, 2015 when her health would no longer allow it. Her family was her life and she cherished every moment that she was able to spend with them. She was a true example of a fighting spirit and left a legacy of love with all who knew and loved her.

Mrs. Embry is survived by her loving family, husband of 30 years, Kevin Embry of Sherman, TX; son, Kevin Lee Embry and wife, Kiya of Sherman, TX; daughter, Angel Mowdy and husband, James of Tom Bean, TX; three grandchildren, Shain Embry, Brodie Mowdy and Melody Mowdy; two sisters, Dana Johnston and husband, Rodney of Cartwright, OK, and Shandra Douglas of Brownwood, TX; three brothers, Danny Smitherman and wife, Darlina of Tom Bean, TX, Michael Douglas and wife, Mary of Anna, TX and Lee Douglas and wife, Christie of Denison, TX; mother, Mary Jane Smitherman of Denison, TX, stepmother, Nancy Smitherman of Denison, TX; special friend, Lou; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her father, Danny Smitherman Sr., sister, Tonia Carter and grandparents, Awana and Junior Morris and Chester Woodson.

Graveside services for Mrs. Embry will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 4, 2015 at Cedar Cemetery in Luella, TX. There is no set time for family visitation.
