Swannanoa - Louis David Reece, of Swannanoa, entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2008.

A native of Forsyth County, he was the son of the Rev. Thomas Monroe and Annie Shuford Reece, and the brother of the late Mildred Moore. Mr. Reece was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. He attended East Carolina University and an electronics school in Louisville, Ky. He worked as an electronics technician with Western Electric who contracted out his work to various other companies. Before his retirement he was working with the U.S. Naval Defense Contractors. He was a Chevrolet Corvair enthusiast, and enjoyed working with wood and gardening.

He is survived by his wife of 59-plus years, Alta Smitherman Reece; his sons, Thomas Reece and his wife, Cheryl, of Black Mountain, Scot Reece and his wife, Robin, of Old Fort, and Todd Reece and his wife, Karen, of Advance; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

The graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Forsyth Memorial Park, with the Rev. Robert Whitaker officiating.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Friday at Brigman's Funeral Service in Black Mountain.
