Smitherman Davis, age 97, of Tuscaloosa, died Sept. 13, 2006 at
home. Graveside services will be 3 p.m. Monday, Sept. 18, 2006 in
Tuscaloosa Memorial Park with Dr. Walter Jackson and Rev. Frank Jones
officiating and Tuscaloosa Memorial Chapel Funeral Home directing.
Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the funeral home.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Aubrey O. Davis, brothers, AllenSmitherman, Clyde Smitherman, Clarence Smitherman, DouglasSmitherman, sisters, Fannie Payne, Ruth Houlditch, Thelma Smithermanand daughter-in-law, Emily Hayes Davis.
Survivors include her son, Aubrey E. Davis of Northport; daughter and son-in-law, Virginia (Jenny) Davis and Thomas M. Roberts of Lilburn, Ga.; five grandchildren, Aubrey E. Davis, Jr., Mary Emily Tinney (Steve), Jo Anne Miller (Bobby), Tammy Roberts Uehlin (Craig), Terry Roberts Smith (Carey); and 12 great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Davis worked at Bryce Hospital and after 34 years she retired. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and a member of Joy Sunday School class.
Pallbearers will be Aubrey E. Davis, Jr., Bobby Miller, Steve Tinney, Carey Smith, Craig Uehlin, Henry B. Cummings and Bill McBride.
Honorary pallbearers are Mr. and Mrs. Tommy Earp, Mr. and Mrs. Carl Wright, Mr. and Mrs. J.T. Taylor, Mr. and Mrs. Tommy McAnally, Mrs. Mary Ann Cummings, Mrs. Doris Crocker, Dr. and Mrs. George Hartley, Dr. and Mrs. W.R. White, Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Smith, Mr. and Mrs. Charles E. Rittenberry, Mr. and Mrs. Burt Riddle, Mr. and Mrs. Mike Guin, Mrs. Joan Oglesby, Mr. and Mrs. Dave Jones, Dr. Steve Copeland, nieces, nephews, friends and members of Calvary Baptist Church.
