M.C. Smitherman, aged 55 years,
died Thursday morning at his home at 306 Hanover Street, North
Chattanooga. He was one of the proprietors of the Chattanooga
Market company and has been a resident of this city for thirty years.
He belonged to the North Chattanooga Presbyterian church.
He is survived by a wife, a brother, Andrew Smitherman, a sister, Miss Amelia Smitherman, and two sons, Clarence and Mack Smitherman.
The funeral services will be held at the residence Friday afternoon, Rev. Oscar E Gardner, officiating. The pallbearers will be Fred Robinson, John O Fowler, J. Read Voight, W.C. Shelton, E.F. Moore, A.J. Welch, W.J. Ziegler and W.H. Sears. The music will be furnished by the North Presbyterian quartet. Interment will take place at Forest Hills cemetery.
