Mr. Mack P. Dishman, 82, of 5697 Old U.S. Hwy. 421, Zionville, died Friday morning, Oct. 20, 2006, at his residence.

He was born June 7, 1924 in Watauga County, a son of the late Spencer Cornelius and Maggie Smitherman Dishman.

Mr. Dishman was a retired mechanic for the North Carolina Department of Transportation for 32 years. He was a member of Mabel United Methodist Church, a Mason, and member of Snow Lodge #363.

Survivors include two sons, Glenn Dishman and wife, Deannie, of Zionville, and Eddie Dishman and wife, Kathy, of Trade, Tenn.; three granddaughters, Dawn Flarety and husband, Shawn, of Wilmington, Lora Wentz and husband, Elliott, of Greensboro, and Lisa Totherow and husband, Chris, of Zionville; two grandsons, Eric Dishman of Atlanta, and Preston Dishman of Trade, Tenn.; two great-grandsons, Cyrus Wentz and Mason Wentz, both of Greensboro; one great-granddaughter, Katina Addison Totherow of Zionville; three sisters, Dora Eggers and Dare Brown, both of Zionville, and Helen Dotson of Boone. He is also survived by a number of nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Sue Eggers Dishman; one granddaughter, Katina Dishman; one brother, Glenn Dishman; and one sister, Georgia Lawrence.

Services were conducted Sunday evening, Oct. 22, 2006, at 7 p.m. at Mabel United Methodist Church. Officiating was the Rev. Judy Eury. Burial followed Monday morning at 10 a.m. at Mabel United Methodist Church Cemetery.
