Maggie
L Joyner, 97, a resident of Miller's Merry Manor for seven years, died
on Christmas day at the Morgan County Hospital, where she had been a
patient for two weeks. She formerly resided at 601
Indianapolis
Road.
The daughter of John and Eliza Nicholson Smitherman, she was born in Yadkin County, N.C. on October 30, 1884. She married Frank Joyner on September 21, 1908 and he died on October 27, 1968.
A resident of Morgan County for 73 years, she was a member of the Mooresville Friends Church.
She is survived by two sons, John and David Joyner of Mooresville; three daughters, Eileen Altman of Knightsville, Mary Kathryn Carr of Edinburgh and Betty Kays of Mooresville; 12 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by an infant daughter and a son, Charles (Bill) Joyner.
Reverend Rex Miller officiated at the funeral services on Monday morning at Carlisle and Son Chapel. Burial was in Mooresville Cemetery.
