margaret (burgess) smitherman
SHREVEPORT,
LA – Margaret was born September 27, 1926 at Highland Hospital in
Shreveport, LA. She graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in Port
Arthur, Texas. She later attended the University of Missouri and was a
member of Delta Gamma Sorority.Margaret was a lifetime member of YWCA and Shreveport Opera Guild, Daughters of the American Revolution, Colonial Dames of the XVI Century, Society of the Mayflower Descendants, St. Mark’s Cathedral, and a charter member of the First Tuesday Book Club.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 27 years, G. Scott Smitherman, and the father of her children George Logan.
Left to cherish her memory are her sons, Larry Logan and wife Lilly; Thomas Logan; daughter, Kathy Logan; grandchildren, Todd Abbiatti and wife Jaime, Shelly Crosby and husband Carl, Lisa Anne Logan, Paul Logan and wife Christina, Lear and Baron Logan; greatgrandchildren, Phoenix Logan, Parker, Carson, and Taylor Abbiatti, Kaitlyn and Christopher McFarland.
A graveside service for Margaret will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, July 3, 2017 in Forest Park Cemetery, St. Vincent Ave. Officiating will be Margaret’s niece, Pastor Barbie Strauss.
